Graduation! Woo!!

I did it! I am officially an Alumni of Trent University and I couldn't be happier!

Yesterday was such a perfect day too! The weather was gorgeous, the ceremony was amazing, and I got to shake the hand of one of my childhood heroes, Tom Jackson. (If any of you watched Shining Time Station, he was Billy Twofeathers). We had a little chat on stage, he told me I looked beautiful and then we took a picture together. It was awesome. Then when I walked back to my seat my Senior Tutor and the Principal of my College stood up and gave me big hugs. Those two women are truly amazing and without them I honestly don't know how I could have made it through this last year with my sanity intact.

The only downside to the day was the robes. They were SOOO WARM! Thick twill + dark green + super hot sun = sauna. However I will admit when I saw my friends and family after the ceremony I was glad I got to wear them because it stopped me from getting a nasty sunburn like the rest of them!

The ceremony itself was the perfect balance between celebration and academia. There were awards for both faculty and students, all the degrees were handed out, and we were presented with an indigenous Honour song using deerskin drums. It was a really cool part of the ceremony and really makes me proud of how much my university embraces indigenous culture and studies.

After the ceremony we took lots of pictures of me with the family, Greg and around campus. Unfortunately a lot of these pictures turned out over exposed :( Oh well I still like them. :)

After the whole graduation shindig we headed over to my favourite restaurant in Peterborough, Hot Belly Mama's. It's some of the best food I've ever had and I'm really going to miss going there. I'll have to take day trips up to Peterborough with Greg just to go for lunch now. But it's so worth it!

Then as if my day wasn't awesome enough, my family pulled out all the grad gifts they got me. My sister Caitlyn (on the left) got me a $50 giftcard to H&M, my other sister Chelsea (right) got me Dr. Seuss' Oh, The Places You'll Go! (the sparkly party edition, because I love sparkles!) Greg said he would get my gift for me another day (you'll find out why), then my parents surprised me with the best gift EVER!

They are sending Greg and I, all expenses paid to Florida to visit THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER!!!

They got us tickets for 2 days at Universal parks, and then Greg and I are going to try to go to Disneyworld and visit my friend Kathryn who is working there on the third day.

The thing that blew my mind the most was that they had this planned and purchased since before my birthday! That's over 2 months! And everyone and their grandma knew... literally, even Greg's grandparents knew! Ah, my mind is STILL blown and I'm so insanely grateful to my parents. Oh and did I mention Chelsea baked me a cake to go along with the 'oh the places you'll go' theme? She even made the hot air balloon out of chocolate.

Seriously, I could not have asked for a better day or family or boyfriend. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect!

Alright, I'll end this epic tale of my graduation with a cheeky picture of me in my grad dress.
