Instead of Friday's Favourites, I'm super excited to share a product review with you guys today! I'm usually weary of subscription boxes because I'm scared I won't be able to afford them after a while, but for just $20 a month, Julep's nail polish subscription box is right up my alley! What's even better was I was able to snag my first box for only 1 cent! Crazy right?!

If you've never heard of Julep that's ok, I was tardy to the party too. Basically you pay a monthly subscription and each month they will send you a box filled with fun nail polish colours. You first take a test to see what your style is and from that they will suggest a Maven profile for you. Don't like the Maven profile you were given? That's ok too! I was originally 'Boho Glam' but once I looked at the colours in the other box sets I knew the 'It Girl' package was for me! So I took the plunge and signed up for my intro box. I also bought 3 other polishes for a great discount price!

Surprisingly my package was here within 3 days which is crazy since I ordered it a couple days before Christmas. It was like a surprise Christmas gift... to myself!

Inside the box (which was super cute because I adore the black/ hot pink combo) was a welcome letter, a description of my Maven profile, my nail polishes and 2 suprise glitter pots which I was not expecting! I was stoked though because we all know I love glitter! They were even nice enough to include instructions on how to use the glitter on your nails.

So here we have the three colours I received in my 'It Girl' starter box. From left to right they are: Otte (a camel colour), Daphne (smokey seafoam green) & Delaunay (a chili pepper red).

Otte:
Great neutral colour, good consistency, covers in 2 coats and only started chipping after 4 days. I'm very fond of this one and it's perfect for work or when you don't want to have your nails be the focus of an outfit.

Daphne: This colour was the main reason why I chose the 'It Girl' box and though I like the colour it's not at all what I was expecting. On screen it looked like a nice bright teal which is a colour I have been searching for for a while now. However once I got the bottle the colour turned out to be a dark teal. It's still a lovely colour, just not the one I was expecting. I understand real life colours can vary from what they look like on screen though so I'm not too upset. The consistency was nice and it took 3 coats for full coverage.

Delaunay:
This colour is wonderful but the consistency is horrible. It's super thin and takes a lot of coats to get full coverage. And I think because of all the layers it made it easier for this polish to chip.

And these were the extras I ordered: Eva (raspberry coloured), Felicity (gold) and Brit (graphite silver suede). As you can tell Felicity was my favourite.

Eva:
This colour ended up being very similar to Delaunay which was disappointing because had I know that I wouldn't have bought it. It's also the same consistency as Delaunay where it takes a few coats to get nice coverage. However it doesn't chip as easily as Delaunay because I've had it on my toes for a week and I've only had small chips here and there. And that's after wearing hiking boots for 40+ hours.

Felicity: As you could tell, I love this gold colour! It's shiny and took about 3 coats to make it look perfect. Chipping was minimal and it took a few days for it to occur. I can't wait to wear this for a fancy occasion. Until then I have it as the tips of my nails paired with Daphne. And seeing as Daphne is a darkish teal I was impressed how easily it covered over it. It reminds me of gold leaf.

Brit: This polish I think is the most interesting of them all. When you look online the description says it's a suede nail polish but I had no idea what this meant. Despite that I still ordered it because I liked the colour. Once I opened the package I'm not going to lie my heart sank when I read on the top of the bottle 'Matte'. I'm not a fan of matte polishes (in fact I hate them) so I was bummed. But I decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did. When they say the polish is suede it actually comes out looking like the texture of suede. The micro shimmer in the polish picks up the light in such a cool way that I'm actually happy to say that there is a matte nail polish I like. Weird right? I can't wait to wear this once I'm done working at Disney! I think it's going to grow to be one of my favourites.

Overall I'd give this package 4 stars out of 5 and I'm excited to see what next month's box will bring! I love surprises!
