Hi everyone!

I FINALLY got my video up and working again! It only took 9 hours! Yikes! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this tutorial I made for the Blogger Zombie Walk. But before we get started I first want to thank the wonderful Autumnforest of Ghost Hunter Theories for organizing this awesome event, so lets give her a big zombie groan as a thank you!

Also, I am SO SORRY it took me forever to get this up, I seem to have the worst luck with technology, so hopefully my extreme awkwardness and novice makeup skills will make up for it. And last but not least, don't forget to come back tomorrow for our very first guest post in my October Blog party series. I'm SO EXCITED you guys! Tomorrow's post is filled with such amazing stuff that I can't wait to share it with you! Enjoy!

Not to toot my own horn, but I was totally right when I said that Sunday would be the perfect day. Apple picking, antique shopping, and baking. It couldn't get any better than that!

I was definitely surprised when we got to the farm though. Normally Greg and I go strawberry picking at Pingle's in the summer and it's always been dead. So you can imagine our surprise when we pulled up and there was almost no parking. I can't blame everyone for going though, the weather was gorgeous and they have a ton of fall activities to experience. We even picked 20lbs of apples! Yup, that's right, 20lbs!
blog lovelymissmegs megan apple picking pingles farm
They had a fun farm for kids to play with animals, a puppet show, a corn maze, pick your own apples and a wagon ride that takes you straight to the pumpkin patch!
blog lovelymissmegs megan apple picking pingles farm
Walking through the orchard we soon realized apple picking would be harder than we thought because all the good apples were at the tops of the trees. This meant that Greg had to do most of the picking since I'm a shorty. I didn't mind though, we had some good teamwork going since he would climb the trees and hand me the apples to put in our bag.
blog lovelymissmegs megan apple picking pingles farm
Would you believe I didn't alter this photo?! The apples were just that bright and gorgeous!
blog lovelymissmegs megan apple picking pingles farm
I finally found a tree that had apples I could reach and then I took a picture of Greg holding our bag o' apples in case you were curious as to what 20lbs of apples looks like! Note: It's a LOT! Look how it's almost the size of his torso!
blog lovelymissmegs megan apple picking pingles farm
When we were done we watched the wagon ride coming back from the pumpkin patch and then we caught the tail end of a fun show where they fire pumpkins out of a canon! Yay for blowing stuff up! I even took a short video of it so you all could see :)

On our way home from the farm we stopped by an antique shop which was actually 4 barns filled with gorgeous antique furniture, and we found a super cool WW2 Parachute bag. Unfortunately everything there was overpriced so we headed back to Greg's place and baked multiple apple crisps for his family all night.

Today is going to be another fun day too! I'm meeting with Greg and he's going to help me with my first ever video tutorial which you will get to see later this week! Yay! Then we're off to a restaurant called The Burbs which his sister raves about on a weekly basis.

Oh, and don't forget my October blog party starts this weekend! I'm SOOO STOKED and I can't wait to start this party! I've already got the first 2 posts lined up and they are good ones! Trust me!

Cheers!

Apple Picking at the Farm

Being unemployed can really suck. Most of your time is spent filling out online applications and tweaking your resume for different jobs, but what can you do to earn some money while you wait for employers to start calling you back?

The answer is simple, sign up for free samples and rewards programs! I had always been super skeptical about these programs but so far it's turned out great! I just received my first $25 gift card to paypal which means I can buy pretty things of my choice for free! So I've decided to share some of my secrets with you all because everyone loves free stuff right?
blog lovelymissmegs megan free
Alright, so my first website I'm going to introduce you to is Swagbucks. This website is great because they reward you for doing things you do on a daily basis! If you use their search engine, you get rewarded. If you watch movie trailers, you get rewarded. If you play internet games, you get rewarded! Pretty sweet eh? They also have surveys you can do to earn more, but it's not necessary. Also, if you live in the States a cool thing they do is they give you coupons to use on your everyday shopping and if you use it then they reward you with more Swagbucks! WHA?! They pay you to shop cheaply? Awesome!

The way I earn most of my rewards is through Swagbucks TV which is where you can watch everything from fashion interviews to video game trailers. And the best part is, you don't technically have to watch. What I'll usually do is open up swagbucks tv in a seperate tab and just let the video play while I do other things online like blogging or checking e-mails. Genius right? It's no wonder I was able to earn enough to get paypal gift cards. It's so easy to do.

This next section I'm going to list a bunch of free samples you can snag. Because free stuff is good stuff!

For Canadians:
Free Kashi Bar - You get a choice of 4 of their snack bars
25 Free Digital Prints from Blacks Photography- use the code GET25FREE at the checkout
Get a free sample of Woolite Extra Dark Care
Free Fragrance Sample of Burberry Body for Women - Print this coupon then take it to The Bay's fragrance counter. Limit of one per customer, and the offer is valid through September 30, or while supplies last.
P&G Sampler packages - Every month they offer free packages filled with P&G brand items such as feminine products, or shampoos.

For Americans:

My Favourite Things Monday

Don't you love days when you wake up and you're so overwhelmingly happy that nothing could get you down? Well today is definitely one of those days. I know I may be jinxing it by saying that but I highly doubt it. It's just too good a day. :D This morning has consisted of listening to music by some of these wonderful artists while everyone else is sleeping. It's nice to have some relaxation time before the hustle and bustle of the day, but that won't last much longer since I hear everyone stirring.

Then later today I'm going apple picking for the first time ever with Greg at one of our local farms. I'm excited to pick my own apples then bake apple crisp and pies afterwards. There's just something so rewarding about the whole experience. A lot more than if you were to just go to the store and pick up a few apples.

I really love baking too, and I've been baking up a storm these past few weeks. Yesterday I made cookies and 3 loaves of pumpkin bread, and I still have to bake another 2 loaves tomorrow. Sometimes I think I should open up a bakery because I bake so much and everyone I know always tells me I should because of my cake decorating skills. But for me the most enjoyable part is the baking. I love when the house fills completely with the scent of cinnamon or vanilla. Or when you bite into a nice warm loaf of bread. Nothing could be better.

Sorry if I'm rambling about silly stuff. I'm just in one of those overly happy moods.

What are some of the little things in life that make you happy?

Fabric sales are my kryptonite. There, I said it, but who could resist a 50% off sale? Not me! I ended up buying a lot of material with fun patterns and it only cost me $15! Not only that but the girl who was cutting my material gave me way more of every fabric than I paid for, which means I walked away with about a meter of fabric for free! Woohoo! Today was my lucky day! ...So lucky that maybe I'll go back for more tomorrow. ...What?! I admitted it was an addiction! That's the first step! Anyways, here are some of today's purchases:

If there was an award for most awkward human being, I'm pretty sure I would finish in the top 3. Seriously, as if taking pictures of yourself in a public place wasn't awkward enough, throw in a talkative old man and an entire track team running by and you have yourself one very awkward situation. Next time I'll just wait for Greg to be free haha!

I've been in full fledged baby mode today because my uncle and his wife are about to have their first baby! (Which means I get my first cousin on my mom's side!) I'm SO ECSTATIC and I couldn't be happier for them. It's amazing how fast 7 months have gone by but Steph looks absolutely gorgeous. Last night we actually got to see them both when they dropped by for a visit and now I can't stop looking for baby stuff. I've already spent an hour searching etsy for some gender neutral gifts and I thought I'd share some of my super cute finds.

As for the rest of my day, I'm sending in my application to Michaels craft store, making more hair accessories, then tonight I'm going out to dinner with Greg and his Grandpa! Honestly, his Grandpa is the most adorable old man in the world so I'm kind of excited about it. Old people and babies, my heart is so full of excitement and love right now, I think it might explode!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Before we get started I wanted to remind you all that I'm hosting my first ever blog party! Yay! I know posting about it on a Saturday was a bad idea since most of us are out and about on the weekend, but I was way too excited to share my good news and jumped the gun. So be sure to check out this post!

Alright, now for today's topic of MFTM; Mumford & Sons. This band is my go-to for feel good music because their sound is fantastic and I could listen to Marcus sing for the rest of my life. Seriously. I have a feeling I'll be listening to these guys a lot this fall because their sound goes perfect with the changing of the season. I don't know why but folk music always reminds me of Autumn. Is that weird?

Anyways I hope you enjoy listening to these guys as much as I do! And as a bonus I've included a live track with Laura Marling who also has a stunning voice!

What are some of your favourite songs right now? I'm in desperate need of new music for my playlist, so hook a girl up!

And because of this I'm moving up my little announcement from Monday to today!

Thanksgiving, fall outfits, scary movies, Halloween and all the other wonderful things that come in the Fall.

If you'd like to write a guest post, DIY, recipe or sponsor a giveaway then e-mail me at megansoares@hotmail.com and I'll set you up with more info.

blog lovelymissmegs megan recipe baking cupcakes pumpkin yummy
I've been baking up a storm the past few days so that means it's time to share another recipe! This time it's one of my all time favourite recipes for the fall, pumpkin spice cupcakes! Yum!

Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 cup vanilla sugar*
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 2 eggs, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon ground all spice 3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon baking powder

* Vanilla sugar is made by placing whole vanilla beans in white sugar and leaving it in the bag/container permanently. The sugar absorbs the smooth vanilla taste which makes it delicious in all sorts of baked goods and coffees. However if you don't have vanilla sugar, just use regular white sugar.

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375℉. In a bowl sift together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, allspice, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
blog lovelymissmegs megan recipe baking cupcakes pumpkin yummy
2. In a seprate bowl beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time making sure they are fully incorporated. Stir in the milk and pumpkin puree after the last egg.
blog lovelymissmegs megan recipe baking cupcakes pumpkin yummy
3. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in thirds making sure to fully blend before adding the next portion. Once all the ingredients have been mixed together pour the batter into muffin cups.

4. Bake for 25 minutes or until the cupcakes are golden and the tops spring back when lightly pressed. (You can also use a toothpick to check) Cool in the pans for 5 minutes before removing to cool on a cooing rack/ the counter.
blog lovelymissmegs megan recipe baking cupcakes pumpkin yummy
4. Make sure cupcakes have completely cooled, then add frosting of your choice.

Frosting #1:
Combine a container of cream cheese frosting & 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon together.

Frosting #2:
Add a dollop of whipped cream to the top of each cupcake to mimic the taste of pumpkin pie.

Now eat them all up! Om nom nom!

P.S. In case you were wondering, my nailpolish is Pumpkin by Joe Fresh. The PERFECT colour for fall as far as I'm concerned.
