Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you probably know that today was the royal wedding of William and Kate. Mom and I got up at 5:30am just to watch it because we're crazy. I say this because we have a super busy day of commuting and packing and moving. So we probably could have used all the sleep we could get, but I think it was worth it.

The wedding itself was really nice and the history buff in me was super excited due to the architecture of the church, and the formality/ mood of the wedding. The service itself wasn't my cup of tea but that's because I'm not a religious person. I still thought it was beautifully done though and I can appreciate it. William also made me laugh because he looked as if he was going to fall asleep at times.

My favourite part of course was the fashion at the wedding. First of all, Kate's dress was stunning! I love vintage inspired dresses with lace and I really liked how simple and classy it was. I know I'm going to sound cliche, but she really did look like a fairytale princess. Plus I love that it was a McQueen!

Photobucket

I also thought her sister's dress was gorgeous too. In fact, the entire Middleton family are a good looking bunch!

My second favourite part of the wedding is the fact that Kate is a commoner. How much of a fairytale story is this, where a common everyday girl grows up to become a duchess, and perhaps future queen. Just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I really do love the fact that William chose to marry someone he truly loved and not someone of status. I think it's a welcome and refreshing change to the royal family.

Photobucket

And last but certainly not least, no fancy British affair is complete without hats/ fascinators. I really do wish there were more occasions in Canadian culture to wear these types of hats because they can be so fabulous (but mostly outrageous). I think the most hilarious hat award goes to Fergie's daughter on the right hands down though. What a crazy design.

Photobucket

Overall I thought it was a lovely wedding and I hope they have a wonderful life together. In fact, I hope everyone who is getting married soon, or hopes to get married has a wonderful life with the one they love.

Yeah... weddings make me a giant sap.

Photobucket

So what did you guys think? Did anyone else watch the wedding?

Last night I had another date night with Greg. First we went out for dinner to East Side Mario's thanks to the gift card his parents got me for my birthday, then we went bowling at Leisure Lanes.

It feels like I haven't gone bowling in forever, but I did really well! Lots of strikes and spares... which resulted in Greg's super competitive side come out. Unfortunately his determination to beat me only worked once out of 4 games (he's going to kill me for saying that).

After bowling we headed back to my house and FINALLY watched Tangled. I've wanted to see that movie since it first came out and I'm so glad I did! It's for sure one of my new favourite Disney movies.

How was your hump-day?

P.S. I'm SO HAPPY I have a camera again!

Date Day: Bowling

Hey all!

In yesterday's post I mentioned briefly that my life is C-R-A-Z-Y right now and I would give an update when I had a bit more time.

Well, right now I have an hour of relaxation before Glee comes on (SO EXCITED FOR IT!) So I thought I would give you a quick update of how my birthday was, and then I'll try to share the rest of the chaos later this week.

The following events take place on April 24th. My birthday, and also Easter:

7:30am: Woke up WAY to early!
8:00am: Checked Deviant Art and received the nicest message I've ever got from a random stranger praising the steampunk cake I made for my boyfriend. That message made my day!
9:30am: Drove up to Hamilton to move my little sister out of residence at McMaster University.

Photobucket

12:00pm: Drove from Hamilton to Toronto to visit my dad's side of the family for easter celebrations
2:00pm: Drove back to Whitby.
3:00pm: EPIC NAP TIME. Everyone in my family came home to pass out... except me. I couldn't sleep :(
6:30pm: Birthday dinner at The Villa with family and friends! I love sitting at the teppanyaki table and watching them do crazy tricks while they cook your food.
8:00pm: Opened presents, got my CAMERA!!!!! <3 <3 <3 I AM SO HAPPY!!!!
10:00pm: My friends and I played Dance Central on the xbox Kinect to work off the ridiculous amount of food we had for dinner
11:30pm: I passed out on the couch while my friends and boyfriend were all talking... I FAIL as a hostess and birthday girl. haha

It was honestly one of the best birthdays I've had since I was a little kid despite the constant running around Ontario!

Up Next: The chaos of moving 2 people in 1 week to 2 different towns, all while packing to move another house in a month!

I hope your week is a lot more relaxing than mine will be!

Birthday Celebrations

Hey all! In yesterday's post I mentioned briefly that my life is C-R-A-Z-Y right now and I would give an update when I had a bit more ...

Firstly, Happy Belated Easter everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I'll be writing a post about the chaos that is currently my life later this week. Anyways I hope you all got some delicious treats and had lots of fun!

Alright, on to some of my favourite things, this week it's a showcase of some of my favourite photographers I follow on deviant art.

Nikosalpha
(just a heads up before you click, most of his work is darker, edgier, and contains a lot of female nudes)

I decided to pick spring/summery themed photos because I feel like my hometown is taking forever to turn to nice spring weather with green grass and flowers. Everything still looks dead and dreary here, so these photos will have to do!

I hope you had a great weekend!

In 5 more days, you will be mine camera. Oh yes, you will be mine.

... that is if I get it for my birthday. It's the only thing I asked for this year, so I'm praaaaaaying I get it. haha. Chances are by writing this though I just jinxed any chances I had.

You see, my dad has this thing where he likes to buy you something completely random that you never asked for as a gift. Even if you bluntly tell him EXACTLY what you want. For example, he had a company Christmas party this year where they have a raffle for prizes. Every year they have some sort of video game thing whether it's the wii, new ps3, or xbox Kinect.

Well this year I couldn't go to the party but I still wanted my dad to put in a few raffle tickets for the Xbox Kinect so I could give it to my boyfriend for a Christmas present if I won. I SPECIFICALLY said "Put a ticket in for me if they have a kinect so I CAN GIVE IT TO GREG for Christmas" (I even made sure to write it in capslock).

Christmas rolls around and what do I get as a gift? An xbox and a kinect.

W-t-f dad?! Oh well, beggars can't be choosers and I do love my xbox and kinect, so I am greatful for the mixup.

Back to the pressing matter though, I really hope I get my camera. I sent him an email with the exact name of the camera, a link to the futureshop website where he can order it online, and I said I would pay for half the camera (since it is kind of pricey).

...My guess is for my birthday I will end up with a bike horn or a jar of peanut butter instead. (True story, for Christmas this year he bought my little sister a bike horn that sounds like those ones clowns have, and a giant jar of peanut butter!) Captain Random much?!

If I don't get my camera though, it's no big deal, I've been saving my money because I am dying after 4 months without a camera.

So fingers crossed that I get it. If not I'll let you know what random gift I got instead. It will probably be something hilarious.

The weather this weekend has been so crazy! Yesterday it was so windy it blew part of my fence down and the rain just kept going and going. Then today, as I'm writing this we just got hit with a freak downpour of snow/hail that has managed to cover the rooftops as if it were December again.

...And within 7 minutes, there is now no snow.

Mother Nature, I got it, you're going through menopause, but I would really appreciate it if you could just stick to one type of weather in a day. That would be awesome!

In other news, since it's been so bleak out, I've been feeling kind of down. Partly because the weather sucks and partly because another one of my friends just had a kid (which is fantastic news! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for her) but the past few years I've really felt left behind.

While I'm only graduating now, it seems that all my other friends have moved on. They've had careers for 2-4 years now, bought their own houses, got married, and some have even started families and I'm just sitting here like...wow. What have I done?

I know I'm only 23 (almost 24, 7 more days!) so I shouldn't be so concerned, and I know I don't want to rush into decisions that will last me a lifetime. But some days I can't help but wish I was already engaged, or was a teacher or something.

This is what I call the Tortoise and the Hare Syndrome, because all my friends are the hare rushing past me with their life accomplishments and I can't help but feel left behind. Deep down inside though, I know that taking things at my own pace like the tortoise will pay off at the end.

That's deep right? Ha! Not really, but I try.

Coming back to my positive thoughts though, I just have to think of all the cool things I get to do that my friends don't because I'm not tied down to anything yet. I can travel, try a few jobs out to see what I like, save my money, and not have to worry about changing diapers or table arrangements at my wedding.  Don't get me wrong, I am so looking forward to the day when I get married and have kids, and I'm not speaking ill of anyone who has those things (because again, I'm slightly jealous of your life) but, things will happen when they happen.

Until then I'll just keep truckin at my own pace and turn this tortoise lifestyle into something cool... like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cool!

Alright, enough of the boring touchy-feely thoughts. Tomorrow is another day, more specifically My Favourite Things Monday, so that will cheer me right up. woot!

This Feel Good Friday is going to be a completely selfish one, but I don't care!

Today at 4pm I will most definitely be feeling SO good because today is not only my first exam, but my only exam! And to make things ever better, this exam is the last exam I will ever have to write in my life because come June, I'm graduating baby!

The past 5 years has been filled with lots of great memories and friends and while it's sad and scary to leave my home away from home, I'm also super excited to never have to write an essay or exam or annotated bibliography again! Huzzah!

So I'm going to share pictures of a few of my favourite moments at my school, then peace out to actually go write this exam (wish me luck!)

Photobucket
Part of my Campus.

Photobucket
My first week at Trent. My residence/ college is Lady Eaton College, hence LEC

Photobucket
Decorating the hallways of residence for every occasion, and meeting best friends that will last me a lifetime

Photobucket
The TOAD HUNT. A secret event for all first year LEC students, it is a celebration of the end of the year. Which ends up in a giant mud fight at the end. Sounds weird, but it's one of the best events ever!

Photobucket
College Cheers. I'll miss these. Because they are O-B-N-O-X-I-O-U-S! (part of one of our cheers)

Photobucket
Friends showing Trent pride at Head of the Trent. One of the largest rowing regattas in North America and it's held at my school every year.

Photobucket
Field trips with my international friends. This one was to Algonquin Park

Photobucket
Hilarious themed parties. This was an ABC party, anything but clothes, so you make your outfit out of random things. Mine's a garbage bag and duct tape, including the flower in my hair.

Photobucket
Office Spacing the Cabinet office computer. Stupid thing never worked

Photobucket
Family. Or as me are more commonly know, cabinet (student parliament). These are the people that have changed my life for forever and while the group of people has changed every year, they all still have a place in my heart. (Cheesy I know, but it's true)

So to sum up all my feelings of excitement and accomplishment I will leave you with this image that captures it so perfectly:

Alright, exam time! woo!
