Feel Good Friday: The Royal Wedding
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you probably know that today was the royal wedding of William and Kate. Mom and I got up at 5:30am just to watch it because we're crazy. I say this because we have a super busy day of commuting and packing and moving. So we probably could have used all the sleep we could get, but I think it was worth it.
The wedding itself was really nice and the history buff in me was super excited due to the architecture of the church, and the formality/ mood of the wedding. The service itself wasn't my cup of tea but that's because I'm not a religious person. I still thought it was beautifully done though and I can appreciate it. William also made me laugh because he looked as if he was going to fall asleep at times.
My favourite part of course was the fashion at the wedding. First of all, Kate's dress was stunning! I love vintage inspired dresses with lace and I really liked how simple and classy it was. I know I'm going to sound cliche, but she really did look like a fairytale princess. Plus I love that it was a McQueen!
I also thought her sister's dress was gorgeous too. In fact, the entire Middleton family are a good looking bunch!
My second favourite part of the wedding is the fact that Kate is a commoner. How much of a fairytale story is this, where a common everyday girl grows up to become a duchess, and perhaps future queen. Just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I really do love the fact that William chose to marry someone he truly loved and not someone of status. I think it's a welcome and refreshing change to the royal family.
And last but certainly not least, no fancy British affair is complete without hats/ fascinators. I really do wish there were more occasions in Canadian culture to wear these types of hats because they can be so fabulous (but mostly outrageous). I think the most hilarious hat award goes to Fergie's daughter on the right hands down though. What a crazy design.
Overall I thought it was a lovely wedding and I hope they have a wonderful life together. In fact, I hope everyone who is getting married soon, or hopes to get married has a wonderful life with the one they love.
Yeah... weddings make me a giant sap.
So what did you guys think? Did anyone else watch the wedding?
